UPRAWR's Ones To Watch 2018

Last year some epic releases filled our ears with bands on the rise and others making comebacks with music that has reinvented their sound such as; Paramore, Linkin Park and While She Sleeps just to name a few. But we are now overdue on others that we have been eagerly anticipating since their last album releases. I’m going to dive straight into to UPRAWR’s list of releases we look forward to this year!

Panic At The Disco!-

Aaah, isn’t Brendon Urie just so dreamy… Anyway. Ignoring Panic’s last release at the end of 2017, a live album, we last heard fresh music by Panic At The Disco! back in 2016 with a different but exceptional sound from Death Of A Bachelor. We know we are due a 6th Studio album this year based on teases throughout 2017 and the lad confirming it himself!. But what shall we be expecting from the album? Something else he has spoken out on in a video he posted on his social media pages last summer.

He says, ‘The stuff I've been writing is very party...There's a song that's just piano and vocal that's an ultimate favourite that I love right now… then a lot of it I've been working with some fun party production and it's fucking fun as shit. Some really big bombastic songs’.

Typical Brendon right? Regardless, this might just be the recording we look forward to most despite the fierce competition. Given that there has not long been a release in the form of a live album, we’re estimating the 2nd half of 2018 for Panic!’s next record.

Twenty One Pilots-

Twenty-one pilots have managed to stay current and relevant despite Blurry Face with the hit single Stressed Out being released back in mid-2015, so a little over 3 years ago. Despite only just breaking their track record of a release every 2 years we’d say we are due a 5th album from the duo this year. They have done nothing but tease us with what they are working on since summer 2017 where they closed their last tour mid-July. Even though there are no hints to what it could sound like, we may have had hints of the visuals and lyrics back in November on the duos Twitter. On that, we will put our money for a summer release this year.

Architects-

Isn’t Doomsday just an absolute banger of a track? If this is anything to go by then Architects next studio album will not disappoint. Their last album, All Our Gods Have Abounded Us really excelled the band into the leagues that you’ll find Bring Me The Horizon in, giving While She Sleeps a real run for their money.

After confirming a show next month at Ally Pally with While She Sleeps as their support we reckon an announcement for the next release then. And we are sure that you’ll be hearing their music throughout the summer and winter here at the club from such an egarly anticipated release.

Bring Me The Horizon-

I can not get over that 2015 was the year That’s The Spirit exploded on to our scene! The band revolutionised their sound giving them a whole new appearance with the melodies produced sounding like no other. That’s The Spirit gave Bring me an identity that could not be mistaken for no other while making them accessible to new and other audiences.

We are now way over due some fresh noise from this band. But who knows what it’ll sound like? Will they go back to their roots? Will they stick it out with softer melodies from what they built their last on? All we have to go by is in an interview, Daniel P Carter’s Radio One Rock show revealed that the new album will wander between their more melodic and heavy metal dynamics, it “won’t be a pop record” according to Sykes and Fish.

As for when the boys release the next album, we are confident they’ll produce this year, but your guess is as good as ours.

Beartooth-

Is there more of iconic UPRAWR track than Beartooth’s In Between? Partly the reason they made it on to this list but it would also be awesome to see a metal-core band joining While She Sleeps and Architects at the level they are now playing at and we think Beartooth can do just that. Our predictions lead us to believe the 2nd half of 2018 is when we’ll hear from them.

Don Broco-

Already confirmed for 2nd of February 2018, not one single for their forthcoming album has disappointed; from their massive sound of Pretty to their upbeat bopping vibe of Stay Ignorant.

Given the singles we’ve been gifted so far by the 4 piece, we think they’ll stay on target for another ‘Automatic’, which to, also sounded like nothing else ever done before. We feel the boys will nail what many other artists struggle with, not with being able to find their own identity but each and every album they record will have its own identity.

State Champs-

State Champs became an UPRAWR club banger back in 2015 with their last release, Around The World And Back. Since then we’ve enjoyed every lyric of that album but it has never stopped us wanting more. We hope that this year's release from the Pop Punk band will provide, and after confirming that they will collaborate with All Time Low’s Alex Gaskarth they sort of can’t disappoint can they?

When will they release? Our bets are for the summer because pop punk.

Against The Current-

Chrissy Costanza is hot! And that is definitely not the reason they made it on to our list.

On the other hand, when they played at our home venue in 2016 the American Trio was phenomenal not to mention some of the coolest yet friendliest people we’ve met when they partied here with us. Their second album release graced our ears in 2016, powerful both in noise and lyrics.

After Chrissy confirming a new release way back in September 2017 for the start of this year and a couple of singles for the end of 2017 in Rocksound, we have heard little from them since which leads us to believe that the release will be mid to late 2018. Gutted much.

Good Charlotte-

There are few out there more excited for Slamdunk Festival 2018 and seeing Good Charlotte back on UK soil then UPRAWR.

Although a 7th Album for GC are just rumours and the bands plus their representatives remain tightlipped according to multiple sources, we can’t help but to dream about such a possibility of Good Charlotte to drop us something coming from their roots and with the guys being more active as of last we fancy the chances that we’ll hear from them again soon!

After such as strong and obscure year (2017) for many of the biggest bands in our scene from the sounds they’ve produced, this year will be a crucial one for the top artists on our list to deliver. On the other hand, it’s clear that there are some seriously epic up-and-coming bands we need watch out for!
